Pearls of the South from Marrakech

A program to discover the great south of Morocco: The mountainous regions of the Atlas, which remains a natural barrier between the north and south of the Kingdom, the stony desert then the sand desert. In this arid area of Morocco, you will discover a paradisiacal landscape: green valleys and oases with full view.

1st day : 

Arrival in Marrakech

Transfers to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel or Riad (a beautiful guest house in the old town) with breakfast.

2nd day :

Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Tinghir

In the morning, departure for Ouarzazate by crossing the High Atlas and its very varied landscape, by the pass of Tizen-Tichka (2260m). Visit of the impressive Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, one of the most picturesque in Morocco and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.  Continuation to Tinghir passing through Ouarzazate and the rich Dades Valley (the road of the 1000 Kasbah). Then you will discover the impressive Todra Gorges in the hinterland of Tinghir.

Day 3 : 

Tinghir- Erfoud

Continuation of the journey through a desert landscape via Tinejdad to Erfoud. In the afternoon you will reach the largest dunes in Morocco in Erg Chebbi, where you will enjoy the fantastic natural spectacle of the desert sunset.  Dinner and overnight stay in a hostel, or a ride with the camels to a camp in the sand dunes, dinner and overnight stay in tents.

4th day :

Erfoud-Zagora

After breakfast departure for Rissani, where you will visit the Ksar of Moulay Ismail and the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Chérif, founder of the Alaouite dynasty, dating from the 17th century. Still crossing the stony desert region, you will reach the oases of Alnif and Tazzarine, then the Draa valley, which you will follow in a south-western direction. Arrival in Zagora,

Day 5: 

Zagora-Ouarzazate

In the morning, you will visit the Tamegroute oasis and the famous library of the Sidi Ahmed Ben Nacer mosque, before continuing along the course of the Drâa river, lined with palm groves and fertile gardens. Arrival in Ouarzazate

Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 6: 

Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After a short drive, we reach the Kasbah of Tiffoultoute, an imposing clay building with a magnificent view over the green valley of the river Tifoultout Continuation of the crossing of the High Atlas by the pass of Tizi-n-Tichka.  Afternoon arrival in Marrakech.

Overnight stay with breakfast.

7th day: 

Marrakech

Morning devoted to the historic visit of Marrakech: the minaret of the Koutoubia (the jewel of the Hispano-Moorish art), the Saâdian tombs (necropolis dating from the 14th century), the palace and gardens of Lâ Bahia (seat of the Grand Vizier Bâ Ahmed), the gardens and the Menara basin. Afternoon Visit of the ramparts, and the colorful souks, considered as the most famous of the kingdom. At sunset, go to the famous Djemâ El Fnâ square where the heart of Marrakech beats with its snake charmers, monkey showmen, storytellers, jugglers, and acrobats.

Return to the hotel for accommodation

Departure
